You receive a written estimate before treatment starts, and it does not change unless the treatment plan itself changes — for example if an X-ray shows a filling will not be enough and a root canal is needed. In that case we explain and re-quote before proceeding.

Yes, for larger treatments such as implants, braces, aligners and full-mouth work. You can see indicative monthly figures using the EMI planner on this site, and we will confirm the exact options available on your card at the clinic. Approval depends on your bank.

Because the work is done per tooth. A filling, crown or root canal on one tooth is a separate procedure from the next. Quoting per tooth is what allows you to check the arithmetic yourself, rather than receiving a single unexplained figure for the whole mouth.

Anything that could be uncomfortable is done under local anaesthetic, and we wait until the area is fully numb before starting. Most patients tell us the appointment was easier than the pain that brought them in. If you have had a bad experience before, say so at the start — we will go slower and check in as we work.

Yes, and it is more common than people assume. Tell us when you book so we can allow extra time. We explain each step before it happens, agree a hand signal for you to stop us at any point, and never start a procedure you have not agreed to. Nothing happens by surprise.

Usually two to four hours, sometimes longer for lower jaw injections. Avoid eating until it wears off completely so you do not accidentally bite your cheek, lip or tongue — this is the most common avoidable problem after an appointment.

Instruments are scrubbed, pouched and autoclaved for every patient. Items designed for single use — needles, gloves, suction tips, barriers — are used once and disposed of. Work surfaces and the chair are disinfected between appointments. You are welcome to ask to see a sealed pouch being opened for your appointment.

We use digital RVG sensors rather than conventional film, which cuts the dose substantially, and a lead apron is used every time. We only take an image when it will actually change the treatment decision. Tell us if you are pregnant and we will discuss whether it can be deferred.

Yes, it matters and we need to know before any procedure. Uncontrolled diabetes slows healing and affects implant success; blood thinners affect bleeding after extractions; some blood pressure medicines interact with anaesthetic choices. Bring your medication list or a photograph of it to your first appointment.

Yes, every Sunday, 10 AM to 9 PM, the same as any other day. Sundays are among our busiest sessions, so booking ahead is worth it.

If you have difficulty breathing or swallowing, swelling that is closing your eye or spreading down the neck, a high fever with facial swelling, or a jaw injury from a significant accident — go to a hospital emergency department. Those need resources a dental clinic does not have.

By around the first birthday, or within six months of the first tooth appearing. The first visit is about checking development and advising on brushing and feeding, not treatment. Early familiarity is what prevents the fear that makes treatment difficult later.

Better not to — it introduces the idea of pain before there is any. Say they are going for a look and a count of their teeth. Avoid words like injection, drill or pain in front of them, and try not to pass on your own dental anxiety, because children read it accurately.

Bite firmly on the gauze for 30 to 45 minutes. For the first 24 hours: no rinsing, no straws, no smoking and no hot liquids — all of these can dislodge the clot and cause a painful socket. Soft, cool food. Start gentle salt-water rinses from the next day.

Twice a day, two minutes, with a soft brush held at an angle to the gum, using small circular movements rather than hard scrubbing. Hard scrubbing wears enamel and pushes gums back. Clean between the teeth daily — this is where most decay and gum disease actually starts, and a brush cannot reach it.

Mild sensitivity to cold for a few days up to two weeks is common, particularly after a deep filling. What is not normal is sharp pain on biting, sensitivity that is getting worse rather than better, or pain that wakes you at night. Contact us if you have any of those.
