What happens at your appointment

  1. Diagnosis

We check the depth of decay, with an X-ray if it may be close to the nerve. This decides whether a filling is enough or a root canal is needed.

  2. Removing decay

The decayed tissue is cleared. Local anaesthetic is used for anything deep — you do not have to endure it.

  3. Filling and curing

Composite is placed in layers and hardened with a curing light, then shaped to match your bite and polished.

Recovery
You can eat as soon as the numbness wears off. Composite fillings are fully set immediately.

Common questions — Dental Fillings

GIC or composite filling — which is better?

Composite at ₹1,500 is tooth-coloured, bonds to the tooth and lasts longer, so it is the usual choice for visible or load-bearing teeth. GIC at ₹1,000 releases fluoride and is useful for children, root-surface cavities and areas that are hard to keep dry. The right one depends on the tooth.

How long does a filling last?

A composite filling commonly lasts five to ten years, sometimes much longer. Life depends on the size of the cavity, where it is, whether you grind your teeth, and cleaning. Small fillings outlast large ones.

Can a gap between my front teeth be closed without braces?

Often yes. An aesthetic composite build-up at ₹1,800 per tooth can close a small or moderate midline gap in a single appointment, with no drilling of healthy enamel. Large gaps, or gaps caused by a bite problem, are better handled orthodontically — we will tell you which yours is.

Does getting a filling hurt?

Shallow cavities often need no anaesthetic at all. Anything deeper is numbed first, so the procedure is comfortable. If you have had a bad experience before, tell us at the start and we will work more slowly and check in as we go.
